Incubus

Incubus is an American alternative rock band formed in 1991 in Calabasas, California, by vocalist Brandon Boyd, guitarist Mike Einziger and drummer Jose Pasillas, later joined by bassist Ben Kenney and turntablist DJ Kilmore. The band's early records, Fungus Amongus and S.C.I.E.N.C.E., leaned into an aggressive funk-metal sound influenced by acts like Red Hot Chili Peppers, before their style matured significantly as they gained mainstream attention in the late 1990s.

Their breakthrough albums, Make Yourself and Morning View, marked a shift toward a more melodic, atmospheric post-grunge and alternative rock sound, anchored by Boyd's distinctive vocals and Einziger's textured guitar work, often layered with DJ Kilmore's turntable scratches for an unusual, genre-blending edge. Singles like «Drive», «Wish You Were Here», «Pardon Me» and «Megalomaniac» became defining tracks of early-2000s alternative rock radio.

The band continued to evolve across A Crow Left of the Murder… and Light Grenades, the latter debuting at number one and marking their commercial peak. Known for combining hard rock energy with introspective songwriting and experimental production touches, Incubus remains one of the more distinctive and enduring bands to emerge from the late-1990s alternative rock scene.
