Housefires

Housefires is a collective of worship musicians formed in 2014 around Grace Midtown church in Atlanta, Georgia, co-founded by lead pastor Matt Reynolds and singer-songwriter Pat Barrett. Rather than functioning as a conventional touring band with a fixed lineup, Housefires operates as a rotating community of songwriters and worship leaders who record live in intimate settings, aiming to capture the energy of congregational worship rather than a polished studio sound.

The project rose to prominence in contemporary Christian and worship music through songs that have become staples in churches worldwide, most notably «Build My Life», co-written by Pat Barrett and later popularized further by artists like Passion and Chris Tomlin. Other well-known songs associated with the collective include «Yes and Amen» and «Open Space», reflecting Housefires' focus on simple, singable melodies paired with earnest, devotional lyrics.

Musically, Housefires blends soft rock and pop textures with the modern worship idiom, favoring live-recorded, atmospheric arrangements over heavily produced studio takes. Their releases function less as traditional albums and more as documentation of communal worship gatherings, which has helped cement their songs' widespread adoption in church settings well beyond their Atlanta origins.
