About the artist
Houndmouth are an American roots-rock band from New Albany, Indiana, formed in 2011. The core lineup — Matt Myers on guitar and vocals, Zak Appleby on bass and vocals, and Shane Cody on drums and vocals — built a sound that blends alt-country twang, blues-rock grit, and warm vocal harmonies, drawing comparisons to bands like The Band and Alabama Shakes. Keyboardist and vocalist Katie Toupin was part of the group's early rise before departing in 2016, after which Caleb Hickman took over keys and the band added saxophone to broaden its live sound.
The band's 2013 debut, «From the Hills Below the City», introduced their storytelling, small-town Americana style, while «Little Neon Limelight» (2015) pushed toward a more polished, radio-friendly sound without losing its rootsy core. «Golden Age» (2018) and «Good for You» (2021) continued to evolve their palette, incorporating more atmospheric and soulful textures.
Songs like «Sedona» and «Darlin'» became fan favorites and helped the band build a dedicated following on the American indie and Americana circuit, with steady touring cementing their reputation as a compelling live act rooted in classic songwriting traditions.
