Hotel Books

Hotel Books began as the spoken-word project of California-based artist Cam Smith around 2011, before evolving into a full band that blends post-rock atmospherics with the intensity of melodic hardcore. Cam's raw, confessional delivery, half sung, half spoken, sits at the emotional core of the project, giving the music a diary-like immediacy that distinguishes it from more conventional rock or hardcore acts.

Albums and songs such as «Nothing Was the Same», «Wooden Floorboards», «Run Wild, Young Beauty» and «August (Part Two)» showcase the band's signature mix of sparse, spoken passages building into swelling, guitar-driven climaxes. The project has become known for its emotionally direct, often vulnerable lyrics dealing with mental health, relationships, and personal struggle, delivered with an intensity that translates strongly to their live shows.

While the lineup around Cam Smith has shifted over the years, he has remained the band's constant creative center, at times performing acoustic, spoken-word solo sets between full-band tour cycles. Hotel Books has toured extensively on the international post-hardcore and melodic hardcore circuit, sharing stages with acts like Counterparts, Defeater and Title Fight, which helped introduce the project to a wider underground rock audience.
