Hoobastank

Hoobastank is an American rock band formed in 1994 in Agoura Hills, California, consisting of Doug Robb on vocals, Dan Estrin on guitar, Jesse Charland on bass, and Chris Hesse on drums. The band emerged from the late-1990s Southern California post-grunge and nu-metal scene alongside contemporaries such as Linkin Park, with whom they shared early local ties.

Hoobastank's sound blends melodic hard rock with radio-friendly hooks, alternating between heavier riff-driven tracks and more polished, emotionally direct ballads. Their biggest breakthrough came with «The Reason», a piano-and-guitar ballad that became a massive worldwide hit and remains their signature song, alongside other well-known tracks like «Crawling in the Dark», «Out of Control», «Running Away», and «Same Direction».

While closely associated with the early-2000s post-grunge and nu-metal wave, Hoobastank distinguished itself through its knack for anthemic, hook-driven songwriting that helped several singles cross over onto mainstream pop radio, giving the band a broader commercial reach than many of its heavier peers.
