HOMESHAKE

Homeshake is the solo project of Canadian singer-songwriter Peter Sagar, born in Edmonton and best known before this project for playing guitar and keyboards in Mac DeMarco's touring band. He launched Homeshake in the early 2010s after leaving that group, channeling a desire to reconnect with the friends and city he had left behind — the name itself references a secret handshake he shared with childhood friends.

Musically, Homeshake occupies a hazy corner of indie pop where slow-motion grooves, pitched-down or whispery vocals, and warm synth textures blur R&B, psychedelic rock, and bedroom pop into something unmistakably his own. Rather than chasing hooks, the songs favor mood and repetition, letting a single bassline or drum loop stretch out for minutes at a time.

Tracks like «Call Me Up», «Midnight Snack» and «Every Single Thing» showcase this signature blend of understated falsetto and late-night atmosphere, and Homeshake has built a devoted following through a steady string of independently released albums rather than mainstream radio success.
