Highly Suspect

Highly Suspect are a rock band from Massachusetts that began around 2009 as a cover act before turning to original material. The core lineup of Johnny Stevens on vocals and guitar, alongside brothers Rich and Ryan Meyer on bass and drums, later expanded with guitarist Matt Kofos, formerly the band's drum tech and touring second guitarist.

The band built its identity on a raw, riff-driven alternative rock sound with grungy, blues-inflected guitar work and Stevens' distinctive, often raspy vocal delivery, drawing songs like «Lydia», «Serotonia» and «My Name Is Human» into heavy rotation on rock radio. Rather than settling into one lane, Highly Suspect has pulled from a wide range of influences — hip-hop, reggae, electronic and jazz among them — and their fourth album, MCID, notably leaned into hip-hop and rap textures alongside their rock foundation.

Across several EPs and studio albums, the group has maintained a reputation for emotionally direct, sometimes dark songwriting paired with an evolving sonic palette, making them one of the more genre-fluid acts to emerge from the 2010s rock scene while still being anchored in guitar-driven songwriting.
