Heart

Heart is an American rock band formed in the Seattle area in the early 1970s, led by sisters Ann Wilson (vocals) and Nancy Wilson (guitar). They rose to prominence in the mid-1970s with a hard-rock sound built around Ann's powerful, Led Zeppelin-influenced voice and Nancy's acoustic and electric guitar work, standing out as one of the first bands fronted by women to achieve major success in a genre dominated by men.

Their breakthrough came with songs like «Crazy on You», «Magic Man» and «Barracuda», which combined hard-rock riffs with folk and progressive-rock textures. After a stylistic shift, Heart found a second wave of massive success in the mid-1980s with polished, radio-friendly hits such as «These Dreams», «Alone» and «What About Love?», becoming a fixture of MTV during that era despite the band's own mixed feelings about the glossy video image the label pushed on them.

Heart's ability to sustain top chart success across two very different decades and musical climates is unusual in rock history, and their catalog has influenced generations of women in rock. Ann and Nancy Wilson remain the band's constant creative core through numerous lineup changes.
