Haustor

Haustor were a Yugoslav rock band from Zagreb, Croatia, formed in 1979 and active until 1990, during which time they became one of the defining acts of the Yugoslav new wave and rock scene. Emerging from Zagreb's fertile late-1970s music underground alongside contemporaries like Azra and Prljavo Kazalište, the band built a distinctive sound that fused rock with elements of reggae, ska and Mediterranean melodicism, setting them apart from many of their more straightforwardly punk- or new-wave-leaning peers.

Over the course of the 1980s Haustor released a string of albums that combined literate, often poetic lyrics with an eclectic, genre-blending instrumental approach, earning them a devoted following across Yugoslavia. Songs such as «Moja prva ljubav», «Ula ulala» and «Šejn» became staples of the era's rock radio and remain closely associated with the band's identity, showcasing their range from tender balladry to upbeat, rhythmically playful numbers.

The band's catalogue, including tracks like «Ena», «Šal od svile», «Uzalud pitaš», «Sejmeni» and «Bi' mogo da mogu», is remembered as part of the golden era of Yugoslav rock, and Haustor is frequently cited alongside the leading bands of that generation for its songwriting craft and stylistic openness within the broader Zagreb scene.
