Hamilton Leithauser

Hamilton Leithauser is an American singer and guitarist best known as the frontman of the indie rock band The Walkmen, celebrated for his distinctive, raw and yearning vocal delivery. After the group went on hiatus following their final album in 2012, he built a solo career marked by a more varied, often orchestral and vintage-inflected sound that draws on old soul, doo-wop and classic pop songwriting.

As a solo artist he has released several albums under his own name, exploring lush arrangements and torch-song balladry alongside driving rock numbers. His work often features longtime collaborators, including former Walkmen bandmate Paul Maroon, whose arrangements have shaped much of his post-Walkmen output.

One of the most acclaimed chapters of his solo career came through his partnership with Rostam Batmanglij, formerly of Vampire Weekend. Together they wrote and recorded I Had a Dream That You Were Mine, released in 2016, an album that blended Leithauser's dramatic, weathered voice with Rostam's inventive, textured production and earned wide critical praise. Songs like A 1000 Times and When the Truth Is... showcase this blend of classic songcraft and modern sensibility that defines his solo catalogue.
