Greg Kihn Band

Greg Kihn Band is an American rock band led by singer-guitarist Greg Kihn, formed in the San Francisco Bay Area and closely tied to the Bay Area's power-pop and rock scene of the late 1970s and 1980s, released largely through Beserkley Records. The band built its reputation on melodic, hook-driven guitar rock delivered with an unpretentious, bar-band energy, straddling new wave-adjacent power pop and straightforward heartland rock.

The band's commercial peak came in the early-to-mid 1980s with hits like «Jeopardy» and «The Breakup Song (They Don't Write 'Em Like That Anymore)», tracks that combined driving rhythms with instantly memorable choruses and helped bring the band into mainstream rock radio and MTV rotation. Longtime collaborator and bassist Steve Wright was a key part of the band's sound and songwriting partnership with Kihn through much of its run.

While never reaching superstar status, Greg Kihn Band remained a durable presence on classic rock radio, valued for consistent songwriting and a live-tested, guitar-forward sound that avoided studio excess in favor of directness and hooks.
