About the artist
Goldfinger are an American rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1994, emerging from the same Southern California ska-punk wave that produced acts like Reel Big Fish and No Doubt. Fronted by John Feldmann, who also became a prominent producer for numerous pop-punk and rock artists, the band built their early sound on horn-driven ska-punk energy mixed with pop hooks and hardcore-influenced aggression.
Their self-titled debut and the follow-up albums «Hang-Ups» and «Superman» brought them radio and Billboard success, with covers and originals like «99 Red Balloons», «Here in Your Bedroom», and especially «Superman» becoming fan favorites — the latter gaining massive additional exposure after appearing in the soundtrack of the video game Tony Hawk's Pro Skater. In the mid-2000s the band moved away from ska toward a more streamlined pop-punk sound before later albums brought back horns and ska elements.
Goldfinger's lineup has evolved over the years around Feldmann's songwriting and vocals, with guitarists Charlie Paulson and Philip Sneed, bassist and vocalist Mike Herrera, and drummer Nick Gross forming more recent incarnations of the band. Their blend of energetic ska-punk roots and radio-ready melodicism made them a lasting fixture of the late-1990s alternative and skate-punk scene.
