Gloryhammer

Gloryhammer is a British symphonic power metal band founded by keyboardist Christopher Bowes, also known for fronting the pirate metal band Alestorm. Formed as a deliberately over-the-top companion project, Gloryhammer is built around an elaborate fantasy narrative in which each band member portrays a fictional character in an ongoing space-and-sword saga centered on the hero Angus McFife and his battles against the evil wizard Zargothrax.

Musically, the band delivers fast, keyboard-heavy symphonic power metal in the tradition of bands like Rhapsody of Fire and DragonForce, pairing galloping guitars and orchestral synths with soaring, theatrical vocals and lyrics that mix Scottish mythology, science fiction and deliberate camp. Albums such as Tales from the Kingdom of Fife, Space 1992: Rise of the Chaos Wizards and Legends from Beyond the Galactic Terrorvortex expanded their mythology across increasingly absurd, cosmic storylines, with songs like «Angus McFife» and «Hootsforce» becoming fan favorites.

Known for elaborate stage costumes, in-character live performances and a self-aware sense of humor, Gloryhammer has built a dedicated following within the power metal scene by combining genuine musical craftsmanship with an unapologetically theatrical, comedic approach to heavy metal.
