Glassjaw

Glassjaw is a post-hardcore band from Long Island, New York, formed in the mid-1990s and fronted by vocalist Daryl Palumbo alongside guitarist Justin Beck. The band emerged from the same late-90s hardcore and emo underground that produced bands like Deftones and At the Drive-In, but distinguished itself with abrasive, technically intricate guitar work paired with Palumbo's distinctive, dynamic vocal range spanning screams to soulful melody.

Their breakthrough came with the 2000 album «Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Silence», widely regarded as a landmark of the post-hardcore genre and hugely influential on the 2000s screamo and metalcore scenes. Songs such as «Siberian Kiss», «Ape Dos Mil» and «Pretty Lush» showcased the band's blend of jagged riffing, unconventional song structures, and raw emotional intensity. The follow-up «Worship and Tribute» pushed further into darker, more atmospheric territory.

Despite long hiatuses and lineup changes, Glassjaw has remained an influential touring act, with Palumbo also known for his work in the band Head Automatica. The band's uncompromising sound and refusal to chase mainstream trends have made them a touchstone act for later generations of post-hardcore and alternative musicians.
