George Harrison

George Harrison (1943–2001) was an English musician, singer-songwriter and producer, best known as the lead guitarist of the Beatles. Born in Liverpool, he joined the band as a teenager after being introduced by Paul McCartney, going on to contribute compositions such as «Taxman», «Something» and «Here Comes the Sun».

Often called the «quiet Beatle», Harrison was instrumental in introducing Indian classical music and instrumentation, particularly the sitar, into Western popular music, studying under Ravi Shankar. Following the Beatles' breakup, he released the acclaimed triple album All Things Must Pass (1970), featuring the hit «My Sweet Lord», and organized The Concert for Bangladesh, widely regarded as the first major benefit concert of its kind.

His solo catalogue includes «What Is Life», «Isn't It a Pity» and «Beware of Darkness», reflecting his spiritual interests and melodic, guitar-driven songwriting. He later joined the supergroup the Traveling Wilburys alongside Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, Roy Orbison and Jeff Lynne, and remained an influential figure in rock music, film production and Hindu-inspired spirituality until his death in 2001.
