Gang of Youths

Gang of Youths is an Australian indie rock band formed in Sydney in 2012, now based in London. Fronted by David Le’aupepe on vocals and guitar, the group built its reputation on emotionally intense, anthemic songwriting that draws on personal struggle, faith, and resilience, delivered through soaring rock arrangements.

The band’s debut album, The Positions, released in 2015, drew on Le’aupepe’s personal hardships and earned strong critical and chart success in Australia, including a top-five ARIA chart placement and multiple award nominations. They followed with the Let Me Be Clear EP in 2016, which further cemented their reputation for raw, cathartic rock songwriting, before releasing their acclaimed second full-length album, Go Farther in Lightness, in 2017.

Gang of Youths are known for blending classic rock songcraft with expansive, orchestral flourishes and deeply personal, often spiritually inflected lyrics. Songs like «Magnolia», «Let Me Down Easy», and «Do Not Let Your Spirit Wane» showcase the band’s signature combination of vulnerability and euphoric, arena-scale instrumentation, establishing them as one of the most acclaimed Australian rock exports of their generation.
