Fuel

Fuel is an American rock band formed in 1994 by guitarist and primary songwriter Carl Bell together with bassist Jeff Abercrombie, who initially built songs before recruiting a full lineup, including longtime vocalist Brett Scallions. The band emerged in the late-1990s post-grunge and alternative rock wave, pairing melodic hooks with heavier guitar textures.

Fuel had major commercial success with the albums «Sunburn» and «Something Like Human», which produced radio staples such as «Shimmer», «Bad Day», and «Hemorrhage (In My Hands)» — songs defined by soaring choruses set against a darker emotional undertow, a combination that became the band's signature. «Falls on Me», from «Natural Selection», extended that run of alternative-rock radio hits into the 2000s.

The band's lineup has changed repeatedly over the years, and creative and personal disagreements led Scallions and Bell to work separately from the mid-2000s onward, with Scallions stating in 2020 he would not return, around the same time Bell resumed leading the band. Fuel's songs have also reached audiences beyond radio: «Quarter» was featured in racing video games including «Need for Speed: Underground» and «NASCAR Thunder 2004», introducing the band to a different generation of listeners.
