Frightened Rabbit

Frightened Rabbit were a Scottish indie rock band from Selkirk, formed in 2003 as a solo project for singer and guitarist Scott Hutchison, whose childhood nickname gave the band its name. His brother Grant Hutchison joined on drums, and the lineup later expanded to include Billy Kennedy, Andy Monaghan and Simon Liddell. The band built its reputation on raw, confessional songwriting that mixed dark humor with unguarded emotional honesty, delivered over anthemic, guitar-driven arrangements rooted in the Scottish indie tradition alongside acts like The Twilight Sad.

Their breakthrough came with «The Midnight Organ Fight» (2007), a widely acclaimed record dealing candidly with heartbreak and self-destruction, featuring songs such as «The Modern Leper», «My Backwards Walk» and «Poke». Later albums, including «The Winter of Mixed Drinks» and «Pedestrian Verse», broadened the band's sound while keeping Hutchison's lyrical intensity at the center. Their final album, «Painting of a Panic Attack» (2016), was released on Atlantic Records.

Scott Hutchison died in 2018 after a long struggle with mental health, a loss that gave songs like «Floating in the Forth» a haunting resonance for fans. Frightened Rabbit remain one of the most emotionally direct and influential bands of the 2000s UK indie rock scene.
