About the artist
Frank Iero and The Future Violents is the project name for former My Chemical Romance guitarist Frank Iero's band, formed with longtime collaborator Evan Nestor on vocals and guitar, alongside Matt Armstrong of Murder by Death on bass, Thursday drummer Tucker Rule, and multi-instrumentalist Kayleigh Goldsworthy. The lineup grew out of Iero's earlier solo-adjacent projects, frnkiero andthe cellabration and Frank Iero and the Patience, evolving into a full band of friends and touring collaborators.
The group's sound continues Iero's post-hardcore and alternative rock lineage, marked by raw, urgent guitar work, dynamic shifts between aggression and melody, and lyrics that draw on personal and often dark subject matter. Their debut album as The Future Violents, Barriers, was released in May 2019 and reflected the band's road-tested chemistry, built from years of Iero and Nestor performing and writing together.
The band's name has an unusual origin: Iero has explained it came from an airline steward mishearing the name of an earlier project, «The Patience», as «The Future Violents» — a phrase Iero liked enough to keep. The band represents Iero's continued work outside My Chemical Romance, carrying his aggressive, emotionally direct songwriting into a stable full-band format.
