Flogging Molly

Flogging Molly is an American Celtic punk band formed in Los Angeles in 1997, fronted by Irish-born singer and acoustic guitarist Dave King. The band's name references Molly Malone's, the Irish pub where the group first came together and honed its sound through regular live sets before releasing any recordings.

Flogging Molly's music fuses traditional Irish instrumentation, fiddle, accordion, mandolin and banjo, with the raw energy and attitude of punk rock, creating anthemic, high-tempo songs alongside more reflective, melancholic ballads. Signature tracks like «Drunken Lullabies» and «Devil's Dance Floor» showcase their raucous, celebratory side, while songs such as «If I Ever Leave This World Alive» reveal a more sentimental, narrative-driven songwriting approach rooted in themes of politics, working-class struggle, family and Irish identity.

The band has remained a cornerstone of the Celtic punk scene since the genre's resurgence in the late 1990s and 2000s, building a devoted global fanbase through relentless touring, including their annual Flogging Molly Cruise.
