flipturn are an American indie rock band formed by high school friends in Florida in 2015, built around the songwriting and lead vocals of Dillon Basse alongside lead guitarist Tristan Duncan, bassist Madeline Jarman, and drummer Adrian Walker. Emerging from Florida's coastal indie scene, the band developed a warm, jangly guitar sound layered with introspective, often nostalgic lyricism, drawing comparisons to the indie-rock revival of bands blending beachy atmosphere with emotional songwriting.

After early singles and the Heavy Colors EP in 2017, the band refined its sound across the Citrona EP in 2018 and a run of standalone singles, gradually building a devoted fanbase through relentless touring and a strong online following before either had major label backing. Songs like «Vanilla», «Chicago», and «August» showcase their knack for pairing sun-bleached melodies with lyrics about longing, memory, and growing up, a combination that resonated widely with young listeners discovering the band through streaming and social platforms.
