Fit for an Autopsy

Fit for an Autopsy is an American deathcore band formed in 2008 in Jersey City, New Jersey. Built around the guitar and production work of Will Putney, a producer known for shaping the sound of numerous modern metal and metalcore acts, the band favors dense, punishing riffing, sharp breakdowns, and a bleak atmospheric edge that sets it apart from more straightforward deathcore acts.

Over a series of increasingly ambitious albums, the band paired brutal instrumentation with lyrics addressing environmental collapse, despair, and societal decay, evident in tracks like «Black Mammoth», «The Sea of Tragic Beasts», and «Absolute Hope Absolute Hell». Vocalist Joe Badolato's delivery moves between guttural lows and harsh screams, anchoring the band's heaviness while guitarists Putney, Tim Howley, and Pat Sheridan layer in melodic and atmospheric textures beneath the aggression.
