About the artist
Fit for a King is an American metalcore band formed in 2007 in the Dallas/Tyler, Texas area, drawing their name from a biblical verse about commitment and resolve. Vocalist Ryan Kirby joined in 2010 and became the band's central creative voice, steering them from independently released EPs toward a heavier, more aggressive sound after signing to Solid State Records.
Albums like Creation/Destruction and Slave to Nothing established the band within the modern metalcore landscape, but it was 2016's Deathgrip that marked a turn toward angrier, more socially charged songwriting, a direction the band has continued to sharpen on releases featuring tracks such as «When Everything Means Nothing», «God of Fire», and «Tower of Pain». Their sound combines breakdown-heavy riffing and programmed electronic elements with Kirby's alternating clean and harsh vocals.
While the band's name carries a Christian reference, members have been explicit that they do not present themselves as a strictly Christian band, since not every member shares that faith and not every song addresses it; when religious themes do surface, they reflect some members' personal beliefs rather than a defining mission. Fit for a King has become one of the more consistently touring and commercially visible acts in contemporary metalcore.
