First Aid Kit

First Aid Kit is a Swedish folk duo formed by sisters Klara and Johanna Söderberg in Enskede, a suburb of Stockholm. Self-taught musicians raised by artistically inclined parents, they gained early attention in 2008 with a homemade video cover of Fleet Foxes' «Tiger Mountain Peasant Song», which circulated widely online and introduced their close vocal harmonies to an international audience. Their sound draws on American folk and country traditions filtered through a distinctly Scandinavian sensibility, with echoes of Simon & Garfunkel, Gram Parsons, and Fleet Foxes.

The sisters released their debut album The Big Black and the Blue in 2010, followed by the critically acclaimed The Lion's Roar in 2012 and Stay Gold in 2014, the latter recorded with an orchestra and marking a fuller, more polished production. Songs like «Emmylou» and «My Silver Lining» became emblematic of their blend of tender songwriting and soaring harmony. They have collaborated with artists such as Conor Oberst, who produced some of their early work.

First Aid Kit occupies a distinctive place in contemporary folk and Americana, admired for lyrical songwriting rooted in themes of sisterhood, longing, and landscape. Later releases, including Ruins in 2018, continued to explore more personal and introspective territory while retaining their signature vocal blend.
