FIFTY FIFTY (피프티피프티)

FIFTY FIFTY is a South Korean girl group formed under the agency ATTRAKT, originally debuting in November 2022 as a four-member act with the mini album «The Fifty». The group built a devoted following on the strength of understated, emotionally direct pop songwriting rather than the maximalist production typical of much K-pop. Their breakthrough came with «Cupid», a bittersweet mid-tempo pop track that spread widely on short-form video platforms and became one of the most viral Korean songs of 2023, eventually charting on the Billboard Hot 100.

That success was followed by a highly public contract dispute with ATTRAKT, in which the original members sought to leave the agency over payment and management disagreements. The fallout split the group, and ATTRAKT went on to relaunch FIFTY FIFTY with a new lineup, continuing under the same name and pop-R&B sound that first brought the group attention.

FIFTY FIFTY remains best known internationally for «Cupid», a song whose crossover reach was unusual for a rookie K-pop act, and for the legal and industry controversy that followed almost immediately afterward. The group sits within the broader wave of K-pop acts that found audiences abroad through streaming and social media virality rather than traditional promotional cycles.
