Feist

Leslie Feist, known professionally as Feist, is a Canadian singer-songwriter born in 1976 who emerged from the Canadian indie rock scene of the early 2000s. She is also known as a member of the Toronto collective Broken Social Scene, whose collaborative, expansive approach to indie rock shaped much of the scene's sound during that period.

As a solo artist, Feist built her reputation with «Let It Die» (2004), a warm, jazz-inflected record blending folk, pop and chanson influences, before breaking through internationally with «The Reminder» (2007), whose single «1234» became a global hit after appearing in an iPod advertisement. Her music is marked by intimate, breathy vocals, understated arrangements and a genre-blending sensibility that moves comfortably between folk, pop, rock and more experimental electronic textures.

Subsequent albums «Metals» (2011) and «Pleasure» (2017) showed a rawer, more exploratory side of her songwriting, while tracks like «Mushaboom», «My Moon My Man» and «Gatekeeper» remain among her best-known work. Feist's career reflects a consistent balance between accessible pop songcraft and artistic risk-taking, making her one of the defining voices of Canadian indie music.
