About the artist
Father John Misty is the performing name of Josh Tillman, an American singer-songwriter who began his career releasing folk albums under the name J. Tillman before joining Fleet Foxes as their drummer during the band's rise to prominence. In 2012, following a period of personal upheaval, he left Fleet Foxes and reinvented himself as Father John Misty, adopting a theatrical, wry and often satirical persona.
His music blends baroque folk-rock and orchestral pop with sharp, literate songwriting that veers between earnest romanticism and biting social commentary. The 2015 album «I Love You, Honeybear» was widely praised for its unflinching, confessional take on love and marriage, while 2017's «Pure Comedy» expanded into grander, more cynical meditations on society and modern life. His subsequent records, including «God's Favorite Customer» and «Chloë and the Next 20th Century», continued to showcase his evolving sound and lyrical ambition.
