Failure

Failure are an American alternative rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1990, built around the songwriting partnership of guitarist and vocalist Ken Andrews and bassist Greg Edwards, later joined by drummer Kellii Scott. The group emerged from the post-grunge and space rock currents of the early 1990s, developing a dense, layered guitar sound that combined heavy riffing with atmospheric, textured production, much of which Andrews handled himself as an engineer and producer.

Their 1996 album Fantastic Planet became a cult touchstone of the era, admired for its ambition and cinematic scope, featuring songs like «Stuck on You» and «Saturday Saviour». The band splintered soon after amid internal tension and drug problems, with Andrews and Edwards going on to other projects, including Andrews producing records for bands such as Blinker the Star and A Perfect Circle.

Failure reunited in 2014, releasing new albums that continued their exploration of heavy, melodic, sonically rich rock, including tracks like «Another Space Song» and «The Nurse Who Loved Me». Their influence is frequently cited by later alternative and space rock acts, and Fantastic Planet in particular has grown in stature as a foundational record of 1990s guitar music.
