Evanescence

Evanescence is an American rock band formed in Little Rock, Arkansas, built around singer and pianist Amy Lee. The group emerged from the gothic and nu-metal-adjacent rock scene of the late 1990s and early 2000s, becoming globally known for pairing Lee's operatic, classically influenced vocals with heavy guitars, orchestral arrangements, and moody, introspective lyrics dealing with grief, isolation, and inner turmoil.

The band's debut album, Fallen, became a massive commercial success and produced the hits «Bring Me to Life» and «My Immortal», tracks that helped define the early-2000s crossover between rock, metal, and mainstream pop radio. Subsequent albums such as The Open Door and their self-titled Evanescence continued to explore darker, more electronic and symphonic textures, while Synthesis reimagined earlier songs with full orchestra and electronic production, showcasing the band's willingness to reinterpret its own catalog.

Over two decades, Evanescence has remained one of the most recognizable acts to bring a female-fronted, symphonic sound into hard rock, influencing a generation of gothic and alternative metal bands while continuing to release new material well into the 2020s.
