Eric Clapton

Eric Clapton is an English guitarist, singer, and songwriter widely regarded as one of the most influential musicians in rock history. He rose to prominence in the 1960s through his work with The Yardbirds, John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers, and Cream, developing a blues-rooted, virtuosic guitar style that earned him the nickname «Slowhand» and made him a defining figure of British blues-rock.

After Cream, Clapton continued through projects like Blind Faith and Derek and the Dominos, the latter producing the classic «Layla». His solo career, launched in the early 1970s, yielded some of his most beloved songs, including «Wonderful Tonight» and a cover of Bob Marley’s «I Shot the Sheriff». He is uniquely the only three-time Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, honored as a solo artist and as a member of both The Yardbirds and Cream.

Clapton’s later work included the deeply personal «Tears in Heaven», written after the death of his young son, and «Change the World», which won a Grammy Award. Across six decades he has moved fluidly between blues, rock, pop, and country-inflected material, consistently ranked among the greatest guitarists ever, and his catalogue remains a cornerstone of modern rock and blues songwriting.
