Elbow

Elbow are an English rock band formed in 1990 in Bury, Greater Manchester, built around the songwriting core of Guy Garvey, Craig Potter, Mark Potter and Pete Turner, with Richard Jupp on drums until his departure in 2015. Known for their atmospheric, emotionally rich sound, the band draws heavily on influences like Genesis and Peter Gabriel, favoring lush arrangements, orchestral textures and Garvey's distinctive baritone voice over conventional guitar-rock hooks.

After years of steady critical acclaim, Elbow broke through commercially with 2008's The Seldom Seen Kid, which won the Mercury Music Prize and went triple platinum in the UK, propelled by the euphoric single «One Day Like This». They reached new heights with The Take Off and Landing of Everything in 2014, their first album to top the UK charts. The band's music was also given a national platform when their track «First Steps» became the BBC's theme for the 2012 London Olympics, with Elbow performing live at the closing ceremony.

Across albums like Cast of Thousands and Build a Rocket Boys!, Elbow have cultivated a reputation for widescreen, communal anthems balanced with intimate, introspective songwriting, earning them the Brit Award for Best British Group and a lasting place among Britain's most respected rock acts.
