About the artist
Egor i Opizdenevshie (roughly «Egor and the Blown-Away Ones») was a Soviet and Russian psychedelic rock project led by Yegor Letov, the frontman of the seminal punk band Grazhdanskaya Oborona. Formed in Omsk in the early 1990s, the project served as Letov's outlet for a gentler, more melodic and psychedelic sound, in contrast to the raw, abrasive punk of his main band. It drew on garage rock, 1960s psychedelia, and Soviet-era folk and pop melodies, filtered through lo-fi home-recording aesthetics.
The group's core lineup overlapped heavily with Grazhdanskaya Oborona and the broader Omsk underground scene known as the Siberian Punk movement, including longtime collaborators such as Konstantin «Kuzya UO» Ryabinov. Most of the recordings were made between 1990 and 1993, a remarkably prolific period for Letov, who was simultaneously working on multiple parallel projects.
Three studio albums were officially released under the Egor i Opizdenevshie name: «Прыг-скок» (Прыг-скок), «Сто лет одиночества» (named after Gabriel García Márquez's novel), and «Психоделия Tomorrow». These records are considered essential listening within Russian underground rock, valued for their surreal, absurdist lyricism and their bridge between punk rawness and dreamy psychedelic songwriting. The project remains a key part of Letov's legacy alongside Grazhdanskaya Oborona.
