Editors

Editors are an English rock band formed in 2003 in Birmingham, though the four members originally met as students in Stafford. Singer and guitarist Tom Smith, guitarist Chris Urbanowicz, bassist Russell Leetch and drummer Ed Lay built their sound around Smith's baritone vocals, brooding basslines and jagged, post-punk guitar textures, drawing immediate comparisons to Interpol, Joy Division and Echo & the Bunnymen.

Their 2005 debut album «The Back Room» arrived on the back of standout singles like «Munich» and «Blood», establishing them as one of the leading names of the mid-2000s post-punk revival alongside Bloc Party and Franz Ferdinand. Later albums pushed the band toward denser, more electronic and synth-driven territory, expanding the initial gothic guitar sound without abandoning its dramatic core.

Songs such as «Papillon», «No Sound But the Wind» and «Smokers Outside the Hospital Doors» became staples of their live shows and UK radio, and the band has continued releasing records and touring internationally, remaining a fixture of British alternative rock.
