Eagles

Eagles are an American rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1971 by Glenn Frey, Don Henley, Bernie Leadon and Randy Meisner, all of whom had previously worked as backing musicians for Linda Ronstadt. Blending country, folk and rock into a smooth, harmony-driven sound, the band quickly became one of the defining acts of the 1970s Southern California music scene.

Their self-titled debut produced hits like «Take It Easy» and «Witchy Woman», while Desperado (1973) cemented their storytelling, outlaw-tinged image with the title track. The band's sound grew more rock-oriented as guitarist Don Felder and later Joe Walsh joined, culminating in Hotel California (1976), whose title track and «Life in the Fast Lane» became era-defining classics. Their catalogue is filled with songs about love, ambition and the darker side of the American dream, delivered through tight vocal harmonies and melodic guitar work.

Eagles split in 1980 amid internal tensions but reunited in 1994, continuing to tour and record for decades afterward. Glenn Frey passed away in 2016, after which Henley continued leading the band with new members including Frey's son Deacon and Vince Gill. Their compilation Their Greatest Hits (1971–1975) remains one of the best-selling albums in history, and songs like «Desperado» and «Take It to the Limit» remain staples of classic rock radio.
