Dr. Dog

Dr. Dog is an American rock and psychedelic-pop band from Pennsylvania, formed in 1999 around bassist and co-lead vocalist Toby Leaman and guitarist and co-lead vocalist Scott McMicken. Over time the lineup expanded to include guitarist Frank McElroy, keyboardist Zach Miller, and drummer Eric Slick, among others.

The band's sound draws heavily on classic influences like the Beatles and the Beach Boys, filtered through the warm, lo-fi textures of 1990s indie rock. Their songs favor warm harmonies, homespun production and a loose, melodic songwriting style that has made them a fixture of the American indie and jam-band-adjacent touring circuit.

Across nine studio albums, Dr. Dog built a devoted following through constant touring and a catalog of fan favorites, with «Critical Equation» standing as their most recent full-length as of the mid-2010s. Songs such as «Heart It Races» and «Shadow People» capture the band's blend of nostalgic pop songcraft and psychedelic warmth, a sound rooted in their own studio experimentation as much as in their influences.
