About the artist
DMA'S are an Australian rock trio formed in Sydney in 2012, consisting of vocalist and drummer Tommy O'Dell, guitarist Matt Mason, and guitarist Johnny Took. The band emerged during a wave of 1990s Britpop revival, drawing frequent comparisons to Oasis for their anthemic melodies, laddish energy, and O'Dell's distinctive vocal delivery, though their sound also incorporates jangly indie guitar work and, on later records, electronic and dance-influenced production.
Their early singles such as «Delete» and «In the Air» established the band's reputation for widescreen, emotionally direct songwriting built around acoustic-driven verses and huge choruses. As their career progressed, DMA'S expanded their palette on subsequent albums, folding synths and club rhythms into their guitar-based foundation while retaining the melodic hooks that first drew comparisons to the Britpop era. Their cover of Cher's «Believe», recorded for triple j's Like A Version series, became one of their most widely shared performances and introduced them to audiences beyond their core rock fanbase.
DMA'S have built a reputation as a formidable live act, particularly in the UK where their Britpop-leaning sound found an especially receptive audience, helping position them among the notable Australian rock exports of the 2010s and 2020s.
