Death Cab for Cutie

Death Cab for Cutie is an American rock band formed in Bellingham, Washington, in 1997 by Ben Gibbard, initially as a solo home-recording project before expanding into a full band. Gibbard's plaintive vocals and introspective lyricism, paired with lush, melodic guitar work, became the group's signature, positioning them at the heart of the 2000s indie rock movement even as the band drew from pop and electronic textures on later records.
