Dean Blunt

Dean Blunt, born Roy Nnawuchi, is a British singer, songwriter, producer, and multimedia artist from London known for a career defined by genre-hopping, deliberate mystique, and a resistance to easy categorization. He first gained attention as one half of the avant-garde duo Hype Williams alongside Inga Copeland, crafting hazy, degraded soundscapes that blurred pop, noise, and R&B into something disorienting and hard to place. That spirit of blurred identity has carried through much of his later work.

Across a prolific and shape-shifting solo career, Blunt has released music under numerous aliases and pseudonyms, moving fluidly between lo-fi R&B, spoken word, ambient textures, and rap-adjacent production. His work often incorporates found sound, disjointed sampling, and a wry, detached vocal delivery, creating albums that feel more like art pieces than conventional records. He has collaborated with a wide range of artists across scenes, including production and creative work connected to A$AP Rocky, as well as collaborations with Yung Lean and Arca.

Blunt is equally known for extramusical provocations — elaborate pranks, anonymous appearances, and stunts involving false identities that have become part of his public persona as much as his music. Through his label WORLD MUSIC, he has also supported and released work by other boundary-pushing artists, positioning himself as a curator of underground, experimental sound as much as a solo artist himself.
