Dayseeker

Dayseeker is an American metalcore and post-hardcore band formed in Orange County, California in 2012. Fronted by lyricist and vocalist Rory Rodriguez, the band built its early sound around the aggressive, breakdown-heavy metalcore common to the Southern California scene of the early 2010s, releasing their debut album «What It Means to Be Defeated» before pushing into more expansive territory on «Orange» and «Dreaming Is Sinking / Waking Is Rising».

The band's sound shifted significantly with the 2019 album «Sleeptalk» and its follow-ups, moving away from pure metalcore toward a moodier, synth-inflected alternative and post-hardcore style influenced by 80s new wave and darkwave aesthetics, drawing comparisons to bands blending heavy guitars with atmospheric, melancholic production. This evolution brought Dayseeker a wider audience beyond the metalcore scene and into alternative rock and gothic-tinged rock circles.

Rory Rodriguez's introspective, often bleak lyricism about depression, loss, and emotional isolation has become the band's defining thematic thread, paired with increasingly polished, hook-driven songwriting on later releases. Dayseeker has toured extensively within the American metalcore and post-hardcore circuit, cementing their place as one of the genre's notable acts to successfully reinvent their sound mid-career.
