About the artist
Dawes is an American rock band formed in 2009 in Los Angeles, California, built around brothers Taylor Goldsmith (guitar, lead vocals) and Griffin Goldsmith (drums, vocals), alongside bassist Wylie Gelber and, later, keyboardist Lee Pardini. The band grew out of the Southern California singer-songwriter and Laurel Canyon tradition, drawing comparisons to 1970s acts like Jackson Browne and Crosby, Stills & Nash.
Their sound centers on warm, guitar-driven arrangements, close vocal harmonies, and Taylor Goldsmith's narrative, introspective songwriting, which tends toward themes of memory, relationships, and the passage of time. Songs like «When My Time Comes» and «A Little Bit of Everything» became signature tracks, showcasing the band's knack for building emotional weight through plainspoken storytelling.
Over a series of studio albums, Dawes has maintained a reputation as a dedicated live act and a steady presence in the American Americana and roots-rock scene, collaborating with and touring alongside artists from that same lineage. Tracks such as «All Your Favorite Bands» and «Things Happen» further cemented their identity as thoughtful chroniclers of everyday life and long-term friendship.
