Dashboard Confessional is an American band formed around singer-songwriter Chris Carrabba, originating from Boca Raton, Florida. The project began as a solo acoustic outlet for Carrabba before expanding into a full band, and it quickly became one of the defining acts of the early-2000s emo scene, prized for lyrics that laid raw emotional vulnerability directly on the surface.

The band’s breakthrough came with confessional, acoustic-driven songs like «Screaming Infidelities» and «The Best Deceptions», which turned intimate, diary-like songwriting into communal anthems — famously sung word-for-word by massive crowds at live shows, a phenomenon that became central to the band’s identity.
