About the artist
Dan Auerbach is an American musician, singer, guitarist, and producer from Akron, Ohio, best known as the frontman and guitarist of The Black Keys, the blues-rock duo he formed with drummer Patrick Carney in 2001. Over eight studio albums the band moved from raw, garage-recorded blues-rock toward a slicker, more radio-friendly sound, culminating in the chart-topping «Brothers» and «El Camino», records that carried tracks like «Never in My Wildest Dreams» into wide popular recognition.
Beyond the duo, Auerbach has built a substantial solo and production career. His solo albums «Keep It Hid» and «Waiting on a Song» showcase a warmer, more classic-rock and soul-inflected style than his Black Keys work, drawing on Southern rock, country, and vintage R&B textures. He also fronts The Arcs, a side project he launched without Carney, releasing «Yours, Dreamily» in 2015.
Auerbach founded the label and studio Easy Eye Sound in Nashville, through which he has produced records for artists spanning genres, from Lana Del Rey to Cage the Elephant to blues veterans he has championed. His signature as a producer and performer is a fuzzy, analog-warm blend of blues, garage rock, and psychedelia, recorded with a strong preference for vintage gear and live-band feel over studio polish.
