Currents

Currents are an American metalcore band from Wallingford, Connecticut, formed in 2011. Blending crushing breakdowns and djent-style riffing with soaring melodic choruses, the band built its identity around the contrast between Brian Wille's harsh screams and clean singing. After early lineup changes settled with Wille on vocals in 2015, the band solidified around guitarists Chris Wiseman and Ryan Castaldi, bassist Dee Cronkite and drummer Jeff Brown.

Signing to SharpTone Records placed Currents alongside labelmates like Emmure, Miss May I and While She Sleeps in the modern metalcore scene. Songs such as «Apnea», «Kill the Ache» and «Night Terrors» showcase the band's ability to pair emotionally raw lyrics about mental health and personal struggle with technically dense instrumentation.

Over the following albums, including material like «Better Days» and «The Place I Feel Safest», Currents leaned further into atmospheric and melodic textures while keeping their heavy foundation, earning them a steady following within the American metalcore and djent-adjacent touring circuit.
