Crowded House

Crowded House are a rock band formed in Melbourne, Australia, in 1985, led by New Zealand singer-songwriter Neil Finn following the breakup of his previous band Split Enz. The original lineup featured Finn on vocals and guitar alongside Australians Paul Hester on drums and Nick Seymour on bass, and the group quickly became one of the defining pop-rock acts to emerge from Australasia in the late 1980s.

The band built its reputation on melodic, hook-driven songwriting paired with Finn's warm, expressive voice, blending jangly guitar pop with introspective lyrics about love, loss, and everyday life. Their breakthrough single «Don't Dream It's Over» became an international hit and remains one of the most enduring songs to come out of the region, while tracks like «Weather with You» and «Fall at Your Feet» cemented their reputation for crafting deceptively simple, emotionally resonant pop songs.

Over the decades the lineup evolved, with Neil's brother Tim Finn, guitarist and keyboardist Mark Hart, and drummer Matt Sherrod joining at various points. Despite a mid-1990s hiatus and Paul Hester's death in 2005, Crowded House has continued to record and tour, remaining a beloved fixture of Australasian rock and a touchstone for melodic songwriting worldwide.
