About the artist
Creed is an American rock band formed in Tallahassee, Florida, in 1993, built around the songwriting partnership of vocalist Scott Stapp and guitarist Mark Tremonti, with bassist Brian Marshall and drummer Scott Phillips completing the original lineup. Emerging in the late 1990s, the band became one of the defining acts of the post-grunge era, pairing heavy, riff-driven guitar work with Stapp's baritone vocals and lyrics often touched by spiritual and personal struggle themes.
Creed's breakthrough came with hits like «My Own Prison» and «What If», followed by the massive commercial success of «Higher», «With Arms Wide Open» and «My Sacrifice», tracks that dominated rock radio and crossed over to mainstream audiences. «One» and «One Last Breath» further cemented their sound, which balanced arena-ready choruses with the heavier textures of 1990s alternative rock.
Although often positioned alongside contemporaries like Nickelback and Staind within the post-grunge movement, Creed carved out a distinct identity through Stapp and Tremonti's songwriting chemistry. The band's run of hit singles made them one of the best-selling rock acts of their era, and their catalog remains a staple of 2000s rock radio.
