Counting Crows

Counting Crows are an American rock band formed in Berkeley, California in 1991, fronted by singer and pianist Adam Duritz. The lineup has included guitarists David Bryson and Dan Vickrey, keyboardist Charlie Gillingham, multi-instrumentalist David Immerglück, drummer Jim Bogios and bassist Millard Powers. The band emerged from the early-1990s American roots-rock and alternative scene, drawing on influences like Van Morrison and R.E.M.

Their 1993 debut album «August and Everything After» made them stars almost overnight, driven by the breakout single «Mr. Jones», and established their signature sound: literate, melancholic lyrics wrapped in warm, jangly guitars and Duritz's distinctive, dreadlocked, emotionally raw vocal delivery. Later hits such as «A Long December» and «Round Here» deepened their reputation as gifted storytellers of longing and restlessness, while their cover of Joni Mitchell's «Big Yellow Taxi» and the Shrek 2 single «Accidentally in Love» brought them to a wider pop audience.

Over three decades, Counting Crows have remained a defining act of 1990s American rock, known for their emotionally intense live shows and a body of work that balances radio-friendly hooks with introspective songwriting.
