About the artist
Corey Taylor is an American musician, singer, and songwriter best known as the frontman of the masked metal band Slipknot and of the hard rock outfit Stone Sour. He founded Stone Sour in Des Moines, Iowa, in the early 1990s before joining Slipknot in 1997 as its vocalist, and has since led both projects in parallel, cementing a reputation as one of modern metal's most versatile and instantly recognizable voices.
With Slipknot, Taylor's aggressive, guttural delivery helped define the nu-metal and extreme metal sound of the late 1990s and 2000s, propelling albums to multiple Platinum certifications. With Stone Sour he shows a different, more melodic and radio-friendly side, singing on songs such as «Through Glass» and, on his own, tracks like «Home» and «Black Eyes Blue». His vocal range is frequently cited as among the widest of any popular-music singer, letting him move between screamed extremity and clean, emotive singing within the same song.
Beyond his two main bands, Taylor has collaborated widely across metal and rock, working with acts including Korn, Disturbed, Anthrax, Apocalyptica, and Soulfly, and has also pursued solo material and writing. He remains a defining figure of 2000s metal and one of its most durable frontmen.
