Collective Soul

Collective Soul is an American rock band formed in the early 1990s in Stockbridge, Georgia, led by singer and songwriter Ed Roland. The group broke through with the single «Shine», originally recorded as a demo and later included on their debut album, which became a massive rock-radio hit and established their sound: melodic, guitar-driven post-grunge with strong vocal harmonies and an underlying gospel-influenced warmth.

Throughout the 1990s the band built a run of radio staples such as «December», «The World I Know», «Heavy» and «Gel», placing them among the defining acts of the era's alternative and mainstream rock crossover. Their music balanced anthemic choruses with introspective, often spiritually tinged lyrics, setting them apart from grunge's grittier peers.

Collective Soul has continued recording and touring for decades, maintaining a loyal fan base built on consistent songwriting rather than trend-chasing.
