About the artist
Cö shu Nie is a Japanese rock band formed in 2011 in Osaka Prefecture, now built around vocalist, guitarist and keyboardist Miku Nakamura alongside bassist Shunsuke Matsumoto and drummer Ryosuke Fujita. The trio built its name within Japan’s alternative rock scene through a moody, atmospheric sound that blends distorted guitars, electronic textures and Nakamura’s distinctive, breathy vocal delivery, giving their music an eerie, cinematic quality that sets them apart from more conventional J-rock acts.
The band’s profile rose sharply through its ties to anime soundtracks. Their song «asphyxia» served as the opening theme for «Tokyo Ghoul:re», introducing them to a global audience of anime fans, while «絶体絶命 (Zettai Zetsumei)» and «Lamp» became the first and second ending themes for «The Promised Neverland», two of the most acclaimed anime series of the late 2010s. These placements cemented Cö shu Nie as a go-to act for dark, tension-filled anime scoring.
Beyond these signature tracks, songs like «give it back», «no future» and «red strand» reflect the group’s recurring themes of anxiety, isolation and emotional intensity, delivered through layered production and dynamic shifts between quiet, brooding verses and explosive choruses. Instrumental pieces such as «ö=simple is!» and «Lamp (Instrumental)» further showcase the band’s instrumental interplay beyond vocals alone.
