City and Colour

City and Colour is the solo project of Canadian musician Dallas Green, best known as guitarist and vocalist of the post-hardcore band Alexisonfire. Green began quietly sharing acoustic tracks online, and in 2005 released his debut album, «Sometimes», to a warmly receptive audience. The project's name is a play on his own — Dallas being the city, Green being the colour — and it quickly grew from an intimate solo outlet into a full band effort.

His music sits at the intersection of folk, indie rock, and singer-songwriter balladry, marked by his distinctive, emotive voice and introspective, often melancholic songwriting. Albums such as «Bring Me Your Love», «Little Hell», and «The Hurry and the Harm» expanded the sound with fuller arrangements while retaining the raw intimacy of his early work. Songs like «Sleeping Sickness» and «Comin' Home» became signature tracks that showcased his range from stripped-back acoustic pieces to more expansive, full-band arrangements.

Green has balanced City and Colour with his ongoing work in Alexisonfire, and the project stands as one of the more distinctive voices to emerge from the Canadian rock scene, admired for its emotional honesty and consistent songwriting across more than a decade and a half of releases.
